Before You Attend
Everything you need to know before your first SWMF session.
Classes vary by instructor and include a whole body workout designed to improve your stamina, speed, agility and strength. Sessions include a warm-up, 50+ minutes of individual, pairs, and team exercises, followed by a cool-down and stretching. Participants are divided into ability groups: blue (beginner), red (intermediate), and green (advanced).
No. The program welcomes all fitness levels through our ability grouping system. Instructors assess participants on arrival and recommend appropriate groups. Most newcomers start in the Blues and progress at their own pace.
You must complete and sign our Par-Q health questionnaire before your first class — you can download it from the Book a Free Taster page or directly here: /documents/par-q-form.pdf. If you are pregnant, you should consult your GP before attending.
Yes, once you've registered online an email will be sent to your inbox with all the details you need including your health questionnaire.
No additional booking is needed after online registration. You simply check the session details and turn up to your class.
A decent pair of outdoor running shoes is all you really need. Wear comfortable, practical clothing - t-shirt, shorts, leggings, or tracksuit bottoms. Bring warm clothing for after the session. In winter, consider a lightweight base layer, gloves, and hat. We can't guarantee the weather but we can guarantee that you'll be sweating! Arrive in your workout clothes if possible as changing facilities are limited. Instructors provide all specialised equipment needed for exercises.
You may use the instructors' vehicle to store your valuables and change of clothing. We advise avoiding bringing valuables where possible.
You can bring your own water or isotonic drinks. The instructors carry plenty of water and there will be water breaks during the class. Make sure you arrive well-hydrated.
